Our School Garden Committee at the planting of our new lime tree.
Junior and Senior Infants were busy planting sunflowers in our raised beds. We planted our seeds in recycled pots and looked after them inside until they were ready to plant outside. We learned about the cycle of the sunflower too.
Rang a Cúig and Rang a Sé, having recently learned about the old Irish ‘Hedge Schools’, learned how to weave willow to develop their own willow hut.They used willow branches to weave a wall and form a beautiful hut which would give any modern class room a run for it’s money! Well done on your great teamwork guys!
Wow! Superb scarecrows designed by the pupils of 3rd & 4th Class! A huge thank you to all involved! I think you’ll all agree that the front of the school is looking a lot more interesting these days!! Well done to all !
The children have been very busy planting vegetables, fruit, flowers and herbs in the 3 beds at the front of the school. They really enjoyed using the trowels and getting ‘hands on’. Lots more planting to come next week when the Infants and 1st&2nd head out to continue the good work!
6th class have begun to prepare plants ready for our herb garden. These will grow on our classrom windowsill until they’re ready to be transplanted outside into our herb patch.
All classes spent time outside planting flowers, herbs and vegetables! With the help of Paddy, we found the most suitable places to plant them and learned how to look after them.
