Hello everyone,
I hope everyone is keeping well, staying healthy and finding lots of innovative ways for keeping yourselves occupied and active.
I trust that you all got on well last week and were able to complete as much of the work as you could. This week we will mostly be using our class books.
English: Section 11 A from Starlight (An Accidental Artist) Before reading the story I want you to use your dictionary to look up and write down the meaning for the following words – moored, deluge, browsed, prompted, glimpse, pavement, quays, assumed, biblical, gingerly and easels. These words will pop up in the story and in some of the exercises that you will have to complete over the week.
I would like you to read the story and the questions and then read the story again. For the coming week I would like you to answer A,B,C,D,and E.
Gaeilge: An Aimsir: Look at pg. 108, pg. 162 and pg. 167 to help you to understand some of the Irish phrases and words for this theme. Your Irish dictionary will be a great help too. Over the week try and complete pg. 109(b), pg. 110(d), pg. 112 (g) and pg. 113 (h). In addition to this work write a short passage on Cad a rinne tú inné? Use as many verbs as you can and lots of help is available on page 178 – 182 in your book.
Maths: Week 28 Mental Maths and the Friday test
5th and 6th class will both be moving onto Area. I have attached some sheets that can go into your maths example copy. Hopefully these sheets and your maths book will help you answer the following work:
5th class: pg.112 , pg. 114, pg.116, pg. 117 q. 1
6th class: pg. 125, 126, 127 and 128 q.1
History: Unit 11 Revolution and Independence. Read the chapter and then answer section A and B from page 65 with written answers. Test you knowledge: check if you understand the meanings of the new words at the start of pg. 60 when you’ve completed the chapter.
6th class: We’ll continue with our Confirmation preparation. Unfortunately our Daffodil Morning was not able to go ahead but hopefully we will get to do it again. Maybe make a nice cup of tea or coffee as a thank you to your parents this week for everything they do. I would like you to start thinking about the Confirmation name that you would like to take, why you would like to take that name and maybe do a little bit of research on the name that your are choosing. Is it a Saint’s name? What does the name mean?
I know the people who were working on the optional history projects put in a lot of time, research and hard work into their projects and I wish you all the best with them.
Best wishes to you and all your families,
Try your best as always and enjoy the Easter break.
Carmel Thorpe.
